Courtney Love auditioning 'new Brad Pitts' to play Kurt Cobain in new biopic
Rumours of a Kurt Cobain biopic have been circulating ever since the Nirvana frontman died by suicide on April 5, 1994.
Now, on the 20 year anniversary of his death, his wife Courtney Love has revealed she's auditioning actors to play Cobain in a new biopic.
"[It] was really tough because these boys are so pretty, so cute," she told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
"I won’t name names because I don’t want to jinx it for anyone but these are 25-year-olds who are blond, gorgeous and the new Brad Pitts ... Some are really good actors, not just pretty faces."
Courtney also said she doesn't "want to be the person who makes that decision" but that she would be consulted on the choice of actor.
"I do have a say in it. So do Frances, and Krist (Novoselic) and Dave (Grohl), for that matter, if it touches on Nirvana — and it will. I am leading the charge because it’s time to do this."
Marc Forster, who helmed Bond movie Quantum of Solace, and Oren Moverman, who directed The Messenger, have both been touted as possible directors although no director has yet been confirmed.
A documentary on Cobain is also due this year from Brett Morgen who made the Rolling Stones doc Crossfire Hurricane.
"It's not like a 'behind the music' doc," said Love. "The only people talking in it are [Krist], Kurt's mother and me. It’s vérité, mostly."
