Caught! A poster for Tom Hardy’s new film Legend tries to pass a 2-star review off as 5

Turns out not everyone was bowled over by Tom Hardy's turn as the Kray twins in 'Legend'.

Well you can't blame them for trying - the marketing team responsible for the posters of Legend took a novel approach to including a bad review on the advertisement.

Those behind the poster attempted to disguise The Guardian's paltry two star review as a more favourable one by sneaking it in between the heads of gangster twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray, both played by Tom Hardy.

Seeing as the rest of the poster carries 4 and 5 star reviews from the likes of Sky Movies, Empire and Dazed, the two star rating probably would have gone unnoticed, if not for The Guardian's reviewer Benjamin Lee calling out the poster-makers on their actions.

"Incredible way of making my two star review seem like I didn’t hate the film," the journalist wrote on Twitter.

In stark contrast, his original review deemed the film,  "a disappointingly shallow take on a fascinating period of time and leaves us sorely uninformed, as if we’ve skim-read a pamphlet. The legend might live on but Legend certainly won’t."
