Caitriona lands a major movie role with George, Julia and director Jodie

The former model has been making waves since her TV show Outlander has wowed critics and viewers alike and now she is set for the A-list.

She is joining the high-profile cast in Money Monster which will be directed by another Hollywood star, Jodie Foster.

Jack O'Connell - star of Unbroken and '71 - is also set to appear in the financial drama which is said to take place in real time.

Clooney is set to star as Lee Gates, a bombastic television stock huckster, whose programme - Money Monster - and life are taken hostage by an outraged gunman played by O'Connell.

As much of the world watches live, Gates must keep himself alive and, with help from his colleague played by Roberts, uncovers the truth behind a tangle of big- money lies.

Balfe will play the head of PR for the company whose stock bottomed, causing the life's savings of O'Connell's character to be wiped out.

The 35-year-old from Monaghan has previously starred in Super 8, Now You See Me, and Escape Plan on the silver screen while her turn in Outlander has made her a star in the States.

The series is based on the hugely successful books by author Diana Gabaldon and follows the character as she is mysteriously transported back in time to the Scottish Highlands of 1743.

The show sees Caitriona's character Claire Beauchamp torn between two different time periods and two different men, and has already been commissioned for a second season.

The show features quite a few raunchy sex scenes but Caitriona admits she doesn't mind filming them. "I think it's because I trust my co-stars so much," she said.

"I think Sam (Heughan), Tobias (Menzies) and I have just built up such great friendships that it makes it very easy when it comes to those scenes.

"As awkward and as challenging as they are, I think when you have people there that you trust, then it just makes them easier," she added.

While she gets on well with all of her co-stars, she admits they have to stay professional while on set.

"Some of the scenes that we share are very challenging so just by that very nature, we're not goofing around as much," she explained.

Although, she does admit that they often mess around like teenagers on set.

"We travel all around so it's always very varied," she said.

"Sam and I usually descend into complete adolescence and usually hit each other with things or just do stupid voices - that's what happens a lot. It's always a lot of fun."

Before her successful acting career, Caitriona was scouted as a model outside the Swan Centre in Rathmines.
