Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen joins an all-star cast for Guy Richie's big-budget re-imagining of King Arthur.

Gillen will be joining Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam who will play the role of King Arthur, as well as Aussie actor Eric Bana, British actor Jude Law, and Djimon Hounsou, best known for his roles in Gladiator and Blood Diamond.

Richie's King Arthur promises to be "a sweeping fantasy action adventure" and the story "introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur - and with it, his future".

Arthur then weighs in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey) and must learn to master the sword and unite to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who murdered his parents.

Filming has begun at Warner Bros, Studios in the UK and will take in locations in Wales and Scotland.  The film is slated for a July 22 2016 release.
