Chloe Moretz has joked that she hopes her performance in the latest vampire movie would put fans off watching any more movies or TV shows based on the creatures.

The young actress said at the London Film Festival premiere of Let Me In that her character Abby should put an end to the current vampire craze which has seen the likes of the Twilight movies become worldwide hits.

The 13-year-old, who also starred in superhero comedy Kick-Ass this year, said of the horror film: "I hope when people watch it they won't want to be a vampire after this film. I hope I'll terrify them enough to go 'I don't want anything to do with becoming a vampire, it's not even cool anymore, it's just scary'."

Wearing a gothic-inspired black lace dress, Chloe revealed she found time to have fun on set with fellow young actor Kodi Smit-McPhee, who co-stars as teenage social outcast Owen.

She laughed: "Me and Kodi had a crazy prank war. He had a huge phobia of The Exorcist and I laughed. He's absolutely terrified of it. He has a picture of him kissing an award so I took away the award and put The Exorcist on his face. Basically he almost cried."

She added that despite her practical jokes, the pair remain firm friends. "He's awesome. He's such a cool guy. We're like best friends now - we talk all the time," she revealed.

Kodi, who by contrast wore a bright green suit, returned the compliment to his co-star. The Australian 14-year-old, whose previous credits include a starring role in The Road alongside Viggo Mortensen, said: "It's really fun to work with someone my age. We got to hang out and stuff - it was awesome."

Let Me In is released on November 5.
