Ewan McGregor has admitted he's a "sucker" for romantic movies.
The 41-year-old actor has a host of diverse projects under his belt, including sci-fi epics, musicals and erotic art house movies, but he said there is usually a common thread - good old-fashioned romance.
He said: "It doesn't matter to me whether someone's in love with a man or a woman. I find the idea of romance interesting. I'm a sucker for it."
The Scot's latest big screen outing is the film adaptation of 2006 novel Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, which sees Ewan's fish scientist tasked with the seemingly impossible mission of introducing salmon into the desert country of Yemen. Emily Blunt plays the representative of the sheikh who wants the fish introduced.
"Really, it's a love story - a complicated love story - which is what I like," said the star, who has a brood of four daughters with wife Eve Mavrakis.
Ewan also revealed he was attracted to the humour of the film.
"I like the tone of the whole piece. It doesn't feel like one of those big British movies that we're used to," he said.
