McElhone heads towards The Sea
Natascha McElhone could be joining Irish drama The Sea.
The 41-year-old actress is rumoured to be in talks to star alongside Ciaran Hinds, Charlotte Rampling and Rufus Sewell in Stephen Brown's directorial debut, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Adapted for the big screen by John Banville from his own novel, The Sea is the story of a man who returns to the seaside where he spent his childhood summers in search of peace, following the death of his wife.
It is not certain which roles the cast will all play.
Producer Luc Roeg said: "I've wanted to make a film of John Banville's haunting and soulful novel for several years and it's been worth the wait.
"I'm excited to introduce a new film-maker, Stephen Brown, to world cinema and I couldn't be more delighted with the cast and crew we've assembled together".
Filming is scheduled to take five weeks primarily on location in County Wexford, Ireland, for a 2013 release.
Natascha, who has appeared in The Devil's Own, The Truman Show and Ronin, recently played Karen van der Beek, the on-off girlfriend of David Duchovny's character on US TV series Californication.
