Malone excited about Hunger Games
Jena Malone has confessed she is "super excited" about starring in the Hunger Games sequel.
The Sucker Punch actress has officially been cast in Catching Fire as Johanna Mason, one of the young 'tributes' forced to battle to the death in a specially constructed arena, and she told E! Online she is delighted to have bagged the coveted role.
She said: "I'm super excited. It's going to be amazing."
Jena, 27, will join established Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson in the next instalment of the movies based on Suzanne Collins' best-selling books.
Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amanda Plummer are also confirmed to have signed up to the sequel, while there have been reports that British actor Sam Claflin is the top choice to play tribute Finnick.
Jena said she became a fan of the books after reading them while she was recovering from having a wisdom tooth removed.
"I was in bed looking for something to read and my little sister recommended it like a-year-and-a-half ago, so she was like, 'You have to read it! You have to read it!' And so I'm glad I finally did and I loved it," she said.
Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence and is due to start shooting in September.
