Malkovich's comic book casting
John Malkovich is reportedly set to star in comic book movies Red and Spiderman 4.
The Changeling star is to replace John C Reilly's role as a retired CIA agent in the adaptation of DC Comics' miniseries Red, according to Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog - and also confirmed to an Italian TV show he is to play villain The Vulture in the latest Spiderman movie.
Spiderman 4 is due to begin shooting in Toronto this week, directed by The Time Traveller's Wife's Robert Schwentke, but it is as yet unconfirmed if Malkovich will play The Vulture - or if rumours are true that Anne Hathaway will play The Vultress.
But asked on Italian sports show Quelli Che il Calcio about the movie, Malkovich confirmed that he's waiting for the final script to be sent to him, and that the movie has been delayed. He also said he hopes that shooting will begin as soon as possible.
Sony and Sam Raimi are said to be clashing over the final draft of the script which is causing delays, Empire reports.
Meanwhile, Malkovich will appear alongside Bruce Willis in Red, who plays a former black ops agent, who discovers that a group of younger, better-equipped assassins are out to off them both.
The all-star cast also includes Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Julian McMahon, Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox and Ernest Borgnine.
