Maggie and hubby co-star in biopic
Maggie Gyllenhaal and husband Peter Sarsgaard are to live out a tumultuous relationship on-screen in a new biopic about musician Bill Monroe.
The Oscar-nominated Crazy Heart actress and the star of An Education, who have previously acted on stage together, have signed up star in a film about the life of the music legend, Maggie revealed to movie blog Screen Cave.com.
She said: "Bill Monroe, who invented Blue Grass music had a kind of Sid and Nancy style affair with this woman Bessie Lee Mauldin throughout his life.
"T-Bone Burnett's going to do the music and Callie Khouri who wrote Thelma and Louise wrote the script so we're going to do that together."
Maggie and Peter have been dating since 2002 and have a three-year-old daughter, Ramona, together. They married in May 2009.
The couple are set to star in Anton Chekhov's play Three Sisters with Mamie Gummer and Josh Hamilton as part of Gotham's Classic Stage Company 2011 season.
They previously worked with Mamie in 2009's production of Uncle Vanya, also part of Gotham's Classic Stage Company.
