Lynne Ramsay has no time for nerves
Lynne Ramsay, the director of the only British film in the running for the top prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival, said she has "not had a chance to be nervous".
Glasgow-born Lynne will screen We Need To Talk About Kevin at the festival tonight (May 12).
She told Screen Magazine she knew she wanted to make the film, based on a novel by London-based author Lionel Shriver, even before it was published.
She said: "I like taking meaty material, risky stuff. And I just thought it was a b****y good story."
The film, about the aftermath of a high-school massacre, is up against entries from the US, Finland and Spain for the coveted Palme d'Or.
Lynne said: "I've not had a chance to be nervous because I've been finishing up the movie."
We Need To Talk About Kevin stars Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton opposite American actor John C Reilly.
