Luke Wilson is apparently in talks to join the cast of Elvis & Nixon, the indie film about Elvis Presley's notorious meeting with US President Richard Nixon in 1970.

Kevin Connolly has just signed up to play a limo driver called Ronnie, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and Luke would play Sonny, one of Elvis' Memphis Mafia who travels with him to Washington.

Eric Bana and Danny Huston are to star in the title roles in the film, which will tell the true story of a meeting between the King of Rock 'n' Roll and the then US President on December 21, 1970.

Elvis travelled to Washington to meet President Nixon at the White House after writing him a six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a Federal Agent-at-Large in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Elvis & Nixon will mark the directorial debut of The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes.

The story about the meeting of the two historical figures has fascinated Cary, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Joey Sagal and Hanala Sagal.

Eric will executive produce through his Pick Up Truck Pictures production company.

Filming will take place in Los Angeles and Shreveport, Louisiana and is scheduled to begin in January.
