Love wants Iannucci for Cobain film
Courtney Love wants The Thick Of It's Armando Iannucci to direct her forthcoming Kurt Cobain biopic.
The Hole singer is currently working with Sid And Nancy producer Eric Fellner on the film, which will document her realtionship with the late Nirvana rocker and is provisionally titled Heavier Than Heaven.
Love told Clash magazine: "Who's directing? Well, I watched The Boat That Rocked and I know that it got slated but I really liked it, and Eric is pushing for Richard Curtis. But you know who I'm into? The Thick Of It guy, Armando Iannucci."
She added: "This is a big A-list movie. This is when someone goes and gets an Oscar for it."
Love and Cobain met backstage at a Butthole Surfers concert in Los Angeles and quickly became an item, with both going on to become iconic lead singers, sharing an infamous relationship, until Cobain committed suicide in 1994.
The forthcoming film based on Charles Cross' acclaimed biography Kurt And Courtney aims to give the inside story on their controversial lives.
Wolverine writer David Benioff has been linked to the screenplay and Love has been heavily involved with the production.
Iannucci is currently working on a new series of his political satire for the American network HBO.
