Lily: Manson inspired me to act
Lily Cole has revealed Marilyn Manson inspired her to begin her acting career.
The 22-year-old model and actress - currently studying History of Art at Cambridge University - worked with the Goth rocker on his short film Phantasmagoria: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll.
Lily said: "Acting was definitely when I was younger something I really wanted to do, but I've also been incredibly lucky in that I kind of fell into it in that I was asked to do a film with Marilyn Manson. I hadn't really considered acting from a professional point of view, but as I got intertwined in that project, it reignited my interest in acting."
The model has since gone on to star alongside the late Heath Ledger in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus among other films, but her project with Marilyn never made it to the big screen.
She said: "I don't know whether Manson didn't get financing or he got distracted by his music projects but unfortunately as yet it hasn't happened."
But she really enjoyed working with him.
She revealed: "I met him more out of curiosity to meet him and being open to the idea than really committed to the project, because I didn't know at the time that I really wanted to act in a horror movie.
"But I met him and he was surprisingly sensitive and gentle and astutely intelligent and it was through meeting him several times and getting to know him and respecting him as a person as well that I assumed it would be an interesting project to do."
