Lena Dunham has appeared to confirm rumours that Adam Driver has landed a role in the new Star Wars movie.
Variety was first to report that the Girls actor is close to signing on to play the villain in JJ Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII.
Lena, who plays Adam's onscreen love interested in her hit show Girl tweeted: "We're VERY proud of Adam Driver re: Star Wars. He's about to rip a hole in da force. Is that a thing? I guess I should see those movies?"
But a few minutes later she added: "I confirm nothing bc I know nothing bc I'm on a plane with my dad! I just like Adam more than almost anyone, and JJ Abrams a whole lot too."
Sources told Variety a deal is yet to be done, but that Adam was close to signing up to play a character "in the vein of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader."
There were apparently scheduling issues to be worked out as there are multiple Star Wars movies planned and it was thought there might be filming clashes with Girls, but these have reportedly been resolved.
While many stars have been linked to the new Star Wars movie, 30-year-old Adam is the first cast member to be revealed.
Star Wars: Episode VII will continue the Jedi saga where Return of the Jedi left off.
