Larry David is set to join the cast of the Farrelly brothers' remake of The Three Stooges - as a nun.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star is in final negotiations to play Mother Mengele, one of the unfortunate nuns who runs the orphanage where the Stooges grow up.

The nuns desperately try to get the three adopted as they perfect their bad behaviour, reports.

Larry will join Glee star Jane Lynch, who is playing Mother Superior.

The 20th Century Fox comedy, which begins production in May, will be directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly and will star Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, Will Sasso as Curly, and Sean Hayes as Larry Fine.

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara has been tipped to play a femme fatale in the film, which is compiled of half-hour short films and set in the present day.
