Knightley's 12-hour Twitter account
Keira Knightley has said she could only stand 12 hours on Twitter before she had to deactivate her account.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean star reckoned she opened an account under a false name but felt so daunted by social networking that she closed it shortly afterwards.
According to the Daily Mail she told Harper's Bazaar: "It made me feel a little bit like being in a school playground and not being popular and standing on the sidelines kind of going, 'Argh'."
Keira, 28, said she didn't mind if not being on Twitter made people think that she was "haughty".
She said: "No, I think that's fine... I like being private. I haven't asked a lot of the actresses who I really admire, 'How do you do it?' because I don't want to know. Maybe I'm childish in that way; I just don't want to know about your life."
The Atonement actress also said she felt that Hollywood still had a long way to go in terms of equality.
She explained: "I go to work at 5.30 in the morning; I wouldn't get back probably until nine o'clock at night. Most of the guys that I talk to - and I've spoken to a lot of guys about it - they say 'My wife does everything.' You think, 'Why wasn't I thinking about this five years ago?'."
Keira added: "Hollywood has a really long way to go. I don't think that anybody can deny that, really, and I think as much as you are getting more women playing lead roles... they're still pretty few and far between."
But she revealed she was less bothered about seeking approval now: "[I was] spending so much time being neurotic and beating myself up [that I thought] actually, if I didn't, I might get further by just going, 'Oh, f*** it'."
