Kick Ass has marginally beaten How To Train Your Dragon to top the US box office.

The superhero comedy, starring Christopher Mintz-Plasse, was at No 1 with 19.8 million dollars, with the animated adventure running a close second with 19.6 million, according to studio figures.

On Sunday, Paramount had estimated How to Train Your Dragon took in 20 million dollars, good enough for the No 1 spot, but the final number came in 400,000 dollars lower.

The same thing happened the previous weekend, when 20th Century Fox's Date Night was reported as No 1 based on Sunday estimates. Final numbers gave the box-office victory to the Warner Bros release Clash Of The Titans.

In the latest figures, Date Night was third in the rankings, followed by Death At A Funeral.

Clash Of The Titans was fifth, followed by Miley Cyrus romance The Last Dong, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?, and Alice In Wonderland.

Hot Tub Time Machine and The Bounty Hunter rounded off the top 10.
