Julianne Moore has revealed she'd love to star in a comedy.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who has made her name in dramas like Far From Heaven, A Single Man and the upcoming Chloe, longs to make audiences laugh.

"I like any kind of situational comedy - it breaks my heart that I'm not going to be in it," she told the Daily Telegraph.

Having guested on the award-winning 30 Rock twice, as Jack Donaghy's (Alec Baldwin) high school crush Nancy Donovan, Julianne said she'd jump at the chance to star in a comedy, referring to Cameron Diaz's turn in There's Something About Mary.

"I thought Cameron Diaz was great in that movie. I really enjoy watching all that kind of stuff," she added.

"You want to have variety as an actor. If you spend your career doing one thing solidly, people get burned out."

:: Chloe will be released on March 5.
