Julia Roberts talks carb overload
Julia Roberts has confessed she struggled eating masses of pizza and pasta for her new film Eat, Pray, Love.
The Oscar-winning actress stars in the movie adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling novel about an American woman who goes travelling "to find herself" after getting divorced, and admitted while she enjoyed the eating, after several takes, the novelty wore off.
Julia revealed to The Daily Record: "It was hard on take 10 on a giant plate of pasta.
"It is a challenge and I love a good meal - someone suggested I had a spit bucket but I can't do that because it makes me gag. It just grosses me out."
"I've always been a friend of food. I probably put on about seven pounds in Rome when we were shooting. I ate a lot of pizzas in Naples. It was just great."
Food-lover Julia insists she has never felt the pressure to slim for the spotlight, since becoming a star.
She said: "That is a strange thing that happens. People get wildly famous and they get incredibly slim.
"I don't know. It never happened to me. I look the same. I guess that is my staying power. My fighting weight."
:: Eat, Pray, Love is in cinemas from Friday, September 24.
