Director Duncan Jones has said making the World Of Warcraft movie is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity for him.

The Moon filmmaker will be at the helm of the upcoming big screen adaptation of the popular computer game and gave fans a sneak peek at Comic-Con, reported Empire.

"The opportunity to do something like Warcraft is a once in a lifetime thing," he said. "I know how lucky I am and I'm so excited! I'm very aware of what goal is there to achieve."

The film - to be titled Warcraft - does not start shooting until 2014, so the clip played at the convention was more of a concept piece setting the tone of the movie.

It showed a desert wasteland and a warrior unsheathing his sword before battling a hammer-wielding orc. The snippet took fans by surprise, as the glimpse at the long-awaited movie had not previously been announced.

World Of Warcraft, which has about 11.5 million players worldwide, allows participants to become characters such as orcs, trolls, humans and dwarves. The virtual world is made up of two factions, Alliance and Horde, between which players much choose to belong. Players within each faction can communicate with each other and set up teams, known as "guilds".
