John Travolta says his dance background helped with doing his own stunts

John Travolta has revealed that his dance experience helped with filming his own stunts in his latest movie.

The Saturday Night Fever actor, who also starred in John Woo's action-packed films Face/Off and Broken Arrow, stars in fast-paced spy movie From Paris With Love.

Asked if his dancing background helped with doing his own stunts, Travolta said: "Yes. ... If you have athletic background like I do or a dance background it does help in action movies and stunts, it helped me in the John Woo movies - it helped me in this movie ... because you're not afraid of any movement."

He added that his wife Kelly Preston was amused by his character carrying a vase filled with cocaine around for many scenes in the movie.

"That's my wife's favourite part of the movie," said John. "I mean it looks so peculiar, you know?"

His co-star Jonathan Rhys Meyers added it was a challenge carrying the vase around.

He said: "When I first thought about the vase, I thought, 'It's going to be a nightmare. I have this vase all the time. ... What am I going to do? I'm paralysed.'

"And then (director Pierre Morel) said something to me, 'Think of it kind of almost like another character.' So now I'm not paralysed. Now I'm carrying a child. ... So then it became a teddy bear. A blankie. Something that would protect me. ... I mean the trouble is endless!"

:: From Paris With Love is released in UK cinemas on March 5.
