It’s a regular slot on his late night talk show and Jimmy Kimmel brought his 'Mean Tweets' right onto the Oscars stage during Sunday's Academy Awards.

The popular segment involves celebrities reading aloud nasty comments about themselves from Twitter users and some of Hollywood’s most elite stars joined in on the fun in a Academy Award-themed edition.

Smirking, Ryan Gosling read out some uncalled for aggression, "Oh look at me... I'm Ryan Gosling, I have perfect bone structure and kind eyes. Go f**k yourself Ryan Gosling."

A heavily pregnant Natalie Portman hit back at a Twitter user who criticised her slim physique, while Emma Stone, Samuel L. Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg struggled to hold straight faces while reading out mean tweets about themselves.

Tilda Swindon considered a Twitter user's comparison between her face and that of an ugly dog, while Robert De Niro criticised a commenter who said he should be playing 'grandfather roles'.
