Jamie tops star list as steamy 50 Shades preview released
Jamie Dornan's steamy appearance in the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer has sent his star soaring in Hollywood.
The clip from the hotly anticipated adaptation of the steamy novel has seen interest in the former model rocket to the top of the IMDB's STARmeter rankings, which give an up-to-the minute marker of celebrity popularity.
The 32-year-old has hit the No 1 spot on the fame chart in the past week, making him the most searched for star on the Internet Movie Database which clocks 190 million users every month.
The new dad is ahead of Hollywood heartthrobs like Brad Pitt, Leonardo di Caprio and George Clooney in the rankings, which provide an instant snapshot of the fame of movie stars.
Managing editor with the Internet Movie Database Keith Simanton said his rise 136 places up STARmeter to the top spot and later this week to No. 2 is simply down the hugely-anticipated movie trailer being released in recent days.
He said: "There is obviously some pent-up anticipation for this film. (This) is a reflection of the 190+ million users on IMDB."
The Fall star, who was once a Calvin Klein model, fell to No. 2 on the STARmeter in the wake of the death of screen icon James Garner, who went to the No. 1 spot posthumously due to interest in his life's work listed in the database.
Mr Simanton said the surge in searches for both Jamie Dornan and his co-star Dakota Johnson (pictured inset) is due to their relatively unknown status before landing the parts in adaptation of one of the biggest selling books of all time.
Meanwhile, the first trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey has already become the most watched movie preview of the year after clocking over 36 million views in its first week.
The Irish actor is first seen in a well-tailored sharp suit but the former model is quickly seen walking around without his shirt.
Set to a new version of Beyonce's Crazy In Love, it gives a glimpse into the much-anticipated film, which will be released next Valentine's Day.
The film is co-produced by EL James, the author of the S&M trilogy that has sold over 100 million copies.
