Hugh Jackman has revealed he expects new movie Prisoners to make audiences question what lengths they would go to if their children went missing.

In the film Hugh, 44, plays the father of a six-year-old girl who goes missing and he locks horns with the detective working on the case, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, as he does everything he can to find his daughter.

The Wolverine actor and a father-of-two, said: "The first thing and main thing [audiences will think] is what would I do in that situation? It really does ask that question of everyone who sees it - how far would I go?"

Asked how far he felt he would go to protect his own children, Hugh said: "I'd go a long way, I don't know if I'd go as far as my character, but I'd go a long way."

Co-star Jake talked about how much he had enjoyed working with Hugh on Prisoners.

He said: "He's a very honest, open guy and he's so up for making a connection in scenes and in life and going to places that I think are really vulnerable.

"That's totally witnessed in his performance in this movie which I think is beautiful. That's why we bonded, because he's a great dude."

Prisoners is due to be released in cinemas on September 27.
