Isaacs surprised by short films
Jason Isaacs has confessed he was expecting the short films he's judging for Jameson Empire Awards' Done In 60 Seconds competition to be so bad they were funny.
The Harry Potter star is on the judging panel for the competition of one-minute classic film parodies, entered online from all over the world, and admits he was surprised by how good they are.
Jason confessed: "I was expecting there to be something rather patronising about it - that they would all be so entertainingly shoddily amateur, that it would be like when my kids put on a dance show for me every night."
He continued: "Me and my Mrs sit there and they dance and sing and I might think they're the most talented people on the planet but I don't Simon Cowell would.
"But in this instance I think there's some really genuine talent here and I don't know where or how they've trained or taught themselves how to do what they're doing, but even the ones that aren't technically proficient, the ones that have made it through to this stage in the competition have got real storytelling skills.
"They understand how to move a story along and they understand how images go together, to make you laugh, to make you feel, and make you want to know what happens next, and there's some real filmmakers coming out of the woodwork."
Jason will be attending the Jameson Done In 60 Seconds party on Friday March 26 to judge the final five shortlisted entrants, who will all attend the Jameson Empire Film Awards on Sunday March 28.
