Idris Elba's new thriller Legacy is to be shown at the 18th Raindance Film Festival in London, it has been announced.

The Wire star plays Black Ops operative Malcolm Gray who returns home after a botched mission in Eastern Europe and is haunted by his past, in the film which will be shown during the independent film festival later this month.

Satirical animation Jackboots On Whitehall, about an alternative history of World War II where the Nazis seize London, will open the festival on September 29.

The voice stars of the film include Ewan McGregor, Rosamund Pike, Richard E Grant, Timothy Spall, Tom Wilkinson, Alan Cumming, Richard Griffiths, Stephen Merchant and Richard O'Brien.

Son Of Babylon, the much-hyped Iraqi film which has been submitted for this year's Oscars and has already won awards at the Berlin and Sundance festivals, will close Raindance on October 10.

Directed by Mohamed Al Daradji, it is the poignant story of a young boy who follows his grandmother in a journey across Iraq in the hopes of finding his father who never returned from war.

This year's all-star jury includes Charles Saatchi, Julian Barratt of The Mighty Boosh; Lemmy from iconic metal legends Motorhead and writer, illustrator, musician and filmmaker Dave McKean.

Also showing is comedian Ben Miller's film about stand-up comedy Huge, starring Noel Clarke, Johnny Harris and Thandie Newton.

The Raindance Film Festival will be held at the Apollo cinema in London's Piccadilly Circus.
