Hudson glams up Venice Film Fest
Kate Hudson glittered in a shimmering spiderweb-inspired gown at the opening night of the 69th Venice Film Festival.
The 33-year-old actress was joined by musician fiance Matt Bellamy at the premiere of her new film, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, as well as Naomi Watts, who was supporting her husband Liev Schreiber.
Kate and Matt - who have 14-month-old son Bingham together - put on a loved-up display in front of the cameras, as they kissed and laughed on the red carpet.
Kate, who began dating the Muse frontman in 2010, plays a photographer named Erica in Mira Nair's big-screen adaptation of Mohsin Hamid's novel of the same name.
Riz Ahmed takes the lead role of a Pakistani Wall Street analyst whose promising career and allegiances come under scrutiny following the September 11 attacks, while Liev portrays an American journalist.
Director Mira views the film as a chance to fulfil what she sees as her life's purpose - telling the stories of people whose lives straddle two worlds, like her own.
"I believe that I have actually been put on this earth to tell stories of people like me, who live between worlds," the Indian-born and New York-based director said.
"Modern Pakistan is nothing what you read about in the papers, which is full of corruption, beheading and terrorism and so on. We all know there has been an enormous schism, a wall between East and West, since, in this last decade," she continued.
"So I sought very much in the dialogue between America and the Islamic world in The Reluctant Fundamentalist to really bring some sense of bridge-making, some sense of healing, a sense of community that goes beyond the stereotypes, goes beyond the myopia, goes beyond the ignorance."
