Hopkins 'inspired Branagh Olivier'
Kenneth Branagh has revealed that working with Anthony Hopkins inspired his role as Lawrence Olivier in My Week With Marilyn.
The actor made the film just as he was putting the finishing touches to his directorial debut Thor, which stars Natalie Portman and Hopkins.
He admitted that filming My Week With Marilyn while still finishing Thor was "something of a stretch".
But he said he delighted in the experience.
"I ran at it with a relish for acting which was born out of partly, literally seeing Tony Hopkins at work, and the others, but also talking to Tony, who had worked with Olivier himself," he said.
"(He) knew him well, and had many war stories, many intimate observations of the way Olivier was, and that to some extent gave me the confidence to try and do it."
