He may have bagged an Oscar and been nominated for three more over the years, but Sir Anthony Hopkins still finds time to write fan mail to other actors.
The Welshman, who stars in new psychological horror film The Rite, has admitted he isn't one for red carpet events or showbiz functions.
"I have very few friends that are actors but I enjoy watching them, I admire them and I'll write fan letters to the ones I really admire. That's what I do, I keep life simple," he said.
"I'm a bit of a recluse as far as the acting business is concerned."
Sir Anthony, who plays the unorthodox exorcist Father Lucas in his new movie, insists he has no plans to retire.
"I'm just grateful to still be working. As long as they keep on giving me the parts until I lose my memory, which I'm not going to do because I keep it fresh," he said.
"People ask me, 'Why do you work?' Well, if they offer me work, I'd be foolish to turn it down. I don't do everything, there are certain parts that I won't do. I enjoy it, but I try not to take it too seriously."
