Katie Holmes is heading behind the cameras to make her directorial debut.
The former Dawson's Creek actress will be at the helm of All We Had, a big screen adaptation of artist Annie Weatherwax' novel, and will have a starring role in the film.
Katie, 35, will also be a producer on the movie, about a mother and daughter who are living on the edge of poverty and find an unlikely home amid the quirky residents of small town America.
The script will be written by Josh Boone and Jane Rosenthal will also produce.
Katie said: "I am very excited and honoured to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to the screen."
The star's other upcoming films include drama Miss Meadows and romance Mania Days.
