Dustin Hoffman is set to reunite with Stephen Frears, as he signs up for his Lance Armstrong biopic

The two-time Oscar-winning actor has joined the as-yet-untitled cycling project, which stars Ben Foster as the disgraced cyclist.

Dustin, who previously worked with the English filmmaker on 1992's The Accidental Hero, will film his scenes when the production moves to the US for the final stages of the shoot.

American actor Lee Pace is another addition to the movie, which also stars Chris O'Dowd as Irish sports journalist David Walsh, one of the first people to raise questions about the cyclist's doping.

Guillaume Canet and Jesse Plemons also have roles in the film.

The film, which has been written by Trainspotting's John Hodge, follows Lance's career from his successful battle against cancer through his seven Tour De France victories and the doping scandal that eventually brought him down.

It is currently filming on location in Europe and the US.

Dustin, who scooped Oscars for his performances in Kramer Vs Kramer and Rain Man, will next star opposite Dame Judi Dench in a BBC production of Roald Dahl's Esio Trot. He is also starring in Jon Favreau's culinary comedy Chef opposite Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson, and is attached to indie drama Boychoir.
