Harlin to direct Chan in Skiptrace
Renny Harlin is set to direct action comedy Skiptrace, starring Jackie Chan and Seann William Scott.
The Chinese action star will play a Hong Kong detective, who teams up with a fast-talking American (Seann) on the run from the Mob. The unlikely duo must join forces to save the cop's niece (Fan Bingbing), when she gets into trouble with a crime lord.
Bloom's president Alex Walton told Screen Daily: "Jackie Chan's international presence is unparalleled, and we're thrilled that Renny Harlin has come on board to direct this exhilarating and hilarious project.
"Having Jackie, Renny and Seann involved will bring this wild script to life with the perfect blend of action and comedy," he added.
Production on the film, which will shoot in various locations in China from the Gobi Desert to the Huangshan Mountains, is scheduled to start in August.
Finnish filmmaker Renny is no stranger to action, having shot The Legend Of Hercules starring Kellan Lutz, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Deep Blue Sea and Die Hard 2.
Jackie, who said he would be doing less action films so he could take care of his body, will next reprise his voice role as Master Monkey in Kung Fu Panda 3 alongside Jack Black and Angelina Jolie.
He is also expected to reunite with Jaden Smith and Taraji P Henson for The Karate Kid sequel.
