Aidan Gillen is set to play Freddie Mercury’s manager John Reid in Bohemian Rhapsody, the new biopic of the Queen frontman’s life.

The Game Of Thrones star will play Reid, who managed Queen from 1975-78 while English actor Tom Hollander will portray their longtime manager Jim Beach who took over in 1978.

American actor Rami Malek portrays the iconic singer while Northern Irish actor Aaron McCusker, known for starring in Channel 4’s Shameless, will play Mercury’s lover Jim Hutton.

The film tells the story of the band’s early years, leading up to their performance at Live Aid in 1985.

The 49-year-old’s Game Of Thrones character Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish met an untimely demise in the show’s seventh series when his throat was slit after being sentenced to death for treason and murder.

Gillen has been busy since his time on on the fantasy series came to an end. He will play famed Irish author James Joyce in James and Lucia and he will also star in next year’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the latest installment in the science fiction film series.

He will also play the lead actor in an upcoming biopic of Irish comedian Dave Allen with Tommy Tiernan and Father Ted star Pauline McGlynn also cast.
