JACK Reynor went from Transformers muscleman to Tallaght taxi driver as he filmed his latest film.

The 21-year-old spent the day in the southwest Dublin suburb for filming on his new flick Glassland yesterday.

Wicklow-born Reynor is playing the lead in the movie alongside actress Toni Collette.

But his latest tough guy character is a far cry from his last role as Shane in blockbuster fantasy film Transformers 4.

The What Richard Did star shed his wholesome image as he stepped out in a scruffy black tracksuit and a pair of runners.

Reynor, who plays a Dublin taxi driver in the movie, was spotted stepping out of a red taxi and knocking at the door of a house in the Virginia Heights area of Tallaght.

Glassland is the second feature from Irish director Gerard Barrett, who made this year's drama Pilgrim Hill.

The Dublin-set story follows a young taxi driver (Reynor) who gets tangled up in the world of human trafficking while trying to save his mother (Collette) from addiction.

Producers said they chose the Tallaght location for the film because of its panoramic views of the Dublin Mountains.

“Around 50 cast and crew arrived into the Springfield area early on Wednesday for filming,” an onlooker told the Herald.

“They said that Tallaght had great surrounding views of the mountains so that's why they chose it.”

It is Reynor's first acting role since returning from Los Angeles in November, where he shot the fourth instalment of Michael Bay's Transformers.

And the actor was clearly out of practice as he was filming a scene where he drops a parcel off at his ex-girlfriend’s home, several times.

“The crew were there for ages and the actor was filmed going into the same house about 10 times,” the source told the Herald.

Reynor was filmed on the green area of the private housing estate alongside fellow actors, who were also wearing tracksuits.

The IFTA winning actor returned to Ireland in November after spending much of the year in the US, where he shot Transformers 4 alongside A-lister Mark Wahlberg.

Reynor, who is dating model Madeline Mulqueen, said he is hoping to return to LA this year, but has no concrete plans yet.

However, the young actor said that he wants to keep Ireland as his base.

The young Irish star said he plans to buy a bolthole in the countryside for himself and his loved ones.

Reynor will next hit screens for his latest movie Delivery Man.

It stars Hollywood actor Vince Vaughn and fellow Irishman Simon Delaney.

He plays one of Vaughn's many children in the film about a guy who finds out he has fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago.
