Diarmaid Murtagh is one of those elusive few talents who has managed to score A-list roles while staying out of the spotlight.

The Cavan native got his start on Irish television, with bit roles on RTE's The Clinic, alongside Amy Huberman and long-running TG4 soap Ros na Run.

But the last 12 months of his career have skyrocketed beyond belief.

Diarmaid landed a key role in George Clooney's world war two film Monuments Men, alongside an A-list cast including Matt Damon, Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett.

He's just fiinished filming Dracula Untold alongside Dominic Cooper and Samantha Barks and is also awaiting the release of Good People later this year.

The latter is a thriller starring James Franco and Kate Hudson, about a couple who steal their dead neighbour's cash to pay a debt and soon become the victim of another thief's wrath.

Despite his impressive acting CV, Murtagh has remained a relative unknown here
