James Franco has joked about the joys of working alone on 127 Hours.
"It was great I didn't have to work with other actors!" he teased on the red carpet at the SAG Awards.
Speaking to E! News, he explained: "It wasn't like I enjoyed it any more but what was interesting was it was a new experience."
"When are you ever going to get a challenge like that? Even on Castaway he gets to walk around the island and talk to a volleyball - I was stuck in one place so it was a really special opportunity."
Franco's acting abilities are tested to the extreme for the film which tells the real-life story of a mountain climber who has to cut off his own arm after becoming trapped under a boulder.
"It was also great that I got to challenge [myself] with someone like Danny Boyle, he made it action packed!" James insisted.
The actor, who's set to host the prestigious Academy Awards next month, said fans shouldn't expect him to be tweeting about the experience.
"I don't tweet. I like the idea of it but I don't know. I feel like because I do put a lot of my own life into my work and writing I feel like it'd be lost, so I save it up," he said.
