Harrison Ford is rumoured to be stepping up to the plate in the upcoming biopic about baseball legend Jackie Robinson.
The actor is said to have been approached for the role of Brooklyn Dodgers executive Branch Rickey in Brian Helgeland's planned film, reported Deadline.
Jack Nicholson and Robert Redford had previously been linked to the part.
As the first black Major League Baseball player since the 1880s, Jackie is a cultural icon after being instrumental in bringing an end to racial segregation in the sport.
Branch was the person who signed the baseball player to a contract with the Montreal Royals in 1945, before making history by signing him up for the Dodgers in 1947.
Harrison, 69, was last seen on screen opposite Daniel Craig in Jon Favreau's Cowboys And Aliens.
