The Fifty Shades Of Grey movie has been pushed back to 2015, it has been revealed.

The big screen version of EL James' steamy novel was due to be unveiled next August but has been delayed until Valentine's Day the following year, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The news comes soon after the start of shooting was put back a month from November to December.

It was reported that the production delay was a result of the abrupt exit of star Charlie Hunnam, who left citing his busy schedule and family commitments and has now been replaced by The Fall's Jamie Dornan.

However, Universal said the casting change is not the primary reason for the new release date.

"We see this movie as a global event," Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said. "The strength of this book is really worldwide, so we want to be able to take advantage of women who are invariably on vacation with their families during the month of August in Europe."

She went on: "Together with the international marketing and distribution team, we've been looking really closely at the August date and becoming more and more convinced that the right thing to do for the movie was to push it.

"So even if Charlie had stayed, we still would have been making the date change."

Dakota Johnson is to star as student Anastasia Steele opposite Jamie as billionaire Christian Grey. True Blood actor Luke Grimes has joined the cast as Christian's brother Elliot, while Jennifer Ehle has landed the role of Anastasia's mother.

The Fifty Shades Of Grey movie will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
