Fifty Shades gets US release date

Fifty Shades Of Grey the movie has had its US release date confirmed for August 1, 2014.

The erotic novels by Brit writer EL James are being adapted into Hollywood films and now a date has been set for the first instalment to hit cinemas, said Digital Spy.

Lead characters Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey are yet to be cast, but Alexis Bledel, Mila Kunis, Ian Somerhalder and Ryan Gosling have all been rumoured to take the roles.

Focus Features will be in charge of the film's US release, while Universal Pictures are taking it on everywhere else.

Both studios have also acquired the rights to the follow-up books Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, with author James serving as one of the producers.

It was recently announced that Nowhere Boy's Sam Taylor-Johnson had landed the film's directing role.

However, Emma Watson recently rubbished rumours that she was set to star as Anastasia.
