Michael Fassbender is in "early talks" to star in romantic drama The Mountain Between Us.
The Shame star could be teaming up with Miss Bala director Gerardo Naranjo for the big-screen adaptation of Charles Martin's novel, reported Variety.
The Irish-German actor is tipped to portray a doctor and avid climber, who gets stranded in the Colorado woods with a female writer after their plane crashes. They are forced to rely on one another for survival, which eventually leads to love.
While Michael is better known for his gritty roles in Steve McQueen's Hunger and Shame as well as Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, he is no stranger to romance after starring in Cary Fukunaga's Jane Eyre and Angel.
Last seen in Steven Soderbergh's Haywire, the actor will next be seen in Ridley Scott's Prometheus.
He is also set to reunite with director Steve McQueen for Twelve Years A Slave and Ridley for The Counsellor, which has been written by Cormac McCarthy.
