Anna Faris could be set to take over Goldie Hawn's role in Private Benjamin

Anna Faris is set to star in a remake of Private Benjamin.

The Hollywood Reporter claims the Observe And Report actress is lined up for the New Line film.

The original movie in 1980 starred Goldie Hawn as a well-off woman who joins the army after the death of her husband. Goldie, along with supporting actress Eileen Brennan, received an Oscar nomination for the movie, which also received a nod for best original screenplay.

The website reports the new version will take on a contemporary twist and will be produced by Mark Gordon, with Amy Talkington in talks to write.

New Line is also remaking Police Academy and Vacation.

Anna's next movie, comedy What's Your Number?, starts filming this spring.
