Ewan McGregor 'for Doctor Strange'
Ewan McGregor is in talks to take over the role of Doctor Strange after Joaquin Phoenix pulled out.
Joaquin was thought to be close to signing a deal to star in the Marvel comic book movie, but negotiations broke down earlier this month.
Now sources have told Badass Digest that the studio is considering former Star Wars actor Ewan to play the superhero.
Insiders said Ewan has been prepping for the role by researching the character.
Doctor Strange first appeared in 1963 and is a neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme protecting Earth against threats.
Ethan Hawke's name has recently been mentioned in connection with the role and before Joaquin was linked to the part, several other actors were thought to be in the mix, including British stars Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch and Academy Award-winner Jared Leto.
Scott Derrickson is directing the movie, due to be released on July 8, 2016.
