The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes is writing a book about starring in the fantasy film.

The actor, who played farm boy Westley in the 1987 cult movie, has a deal with Touchstone, an imprint of Simon And Schuster, for a memoir about the beloved fairytale.

The book is called As You Wish: Tales From The Princess Bride and will also include interviews with other cast members including Billy Crystal and Robin Wright, who played Westley's love interest Buttercup.

Director Rob Reiner is contributing a foreword.

The book, to be co-written by Joe Layden, is due to be published in 2014.
