Elsa throws a party in Frozen Fever
Frozen stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad are reunited for the new short film, Frozen Fever.
The first images from the seven-minute-long short, which will be shown before Disney's live-action Cinderella on March 27, have been released, and they show Princess Elsa (voiced by Idina) throwing her sister Princess Anna (Kristen) a birthday party.
"It's another side of Elsa the audience hasn't seen before and we hadn't really played with in the original feature," director Chris Buck said to USA Today.
But her plans don't go according to plan, when she comes down with a cold on the day.
Co-director Jennifer Lee explained: "Elsa doesn't get a cold in the usual way. She's special. Surprising things occur that wreak a little havoc."
Josh, who returns to voice Olaf the snowman, enjoyed reuniting with his co-stars.
"The gang is back together. And literally it's like we never went away," he said. "Every day we're reminded of Frozen in our lives. So it feels like a continuation of a saga that has many parts still untold. It felt like coming home again after a short absence."
Frozen Fever, a spin-off from the hit 2012 movie, will feature a new song from the husband-and-wife team of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who won an Oscar for Let It Go.
Josh teased: "If history is any indicator, kids will go nuts."
The 33-year-old actor added: "We continue this story of these two sisters, who only had each other growing up together. They are still supporting each other. That's what this is about."
