Jesse Eisenberg has revealed he would like to return for a Now You See Me sequel.

The 30-year-old actor said he would gladly reprise his role as confident magician J Daniel Atlas in the follow-up. The 2013 heist thriller, which also starred Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo and Dave Franco was a huge box office success.

"I love the character, it was so much fun to play so I'd hope to do it again. Everyone loved doing the first one so I imagine they'll all want to do it again," he said.

Jon M Chu is tipped to direct the sequel, taking over from French filmmaker Louis Leterrier, who directed the first film.

Jesse, Woody, Isla and Dave Franco played street magicians who carried out heists, with Mark as the cop on their tail.

The Oscar-nominated actor, who portrayed Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher's The Social Network, said he has no qualms about stepping back in the role because it is different to his real self.

"He's a performer who loves performing. I don't know any performer who loves performing so it's a real treat. Every performer I know tortures themselves for it and the character in Now You See Me tortures himself for it, but when he's on stage, he loves it," he said.

And Jesse, who next stars in environmental drama Night Moves, said there could be even more travelling in the next instalment.

"We shot a bit in France, mostly in New Orleans, but that's the kind of movie that can lend itself to travel. It's magic and an international cast," he added.

:: Night Moves opens in cinemas on August 29.
