Dustin Hoffman cried Bambi tears
Dustin Hoffman has admitted one of his earliest memories of the cinema was "bursting out crying" at the Disney classic Bambi.
The 1942 cartoon weepie has famously made generations of children cry with its story of a young deer growing up in a forest.
The 73-year-old Hollywood star was in Cannes promoting his new film Kung Fu Panda 2 when he was asked what his favourite cartoons were when he was young.
The two-time Oscar winner said: "Being probably the oldest person in the room - if anyone is older can they please stand up? - I remember the first time I saw Bambi and it's interesting because you can connect Bambi to violence.
"It's extraordinary. Bambi has the big fire in the woods and I still remember bursting out crying because all the animals were nearly killed by fire."
