Downey Jr takes up Inherent Vice?
Robert Downey Jr is said to be eyeing up the lead role in Paul Thomas Anderson's film adaptation of Inherent Vice.
The Iron Man star is considering starring in the big-screen version of Thomas Pynchon's 2009 mystery novel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He would apparently play Larry 'Doc' Sportello, a private eye based in Los Angeles in the late 1960s.
Both actor and director are represented by CAA, which declined to comment on the report.
Robert, who has been filming the Sherlock Holmes sequel - titled A Game Of Shadows - will next appear in Iron Man 3 and is expected to start shooting The Avengers, where he will reprise his role as the metal-clad superhero.
Paul, who directed the Oscar-winning epic There Will Be Blood, has been working on The Master, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as a man who hatches a belief system that mushrooms into a religion.
