Leonardo DiCaprio could be getting a superstar as his next leading woman.
The Inception star has been filming the J Edgar Hoover biopic with Clint Eastwood, who is apparently keen to cast him in his next film, A Star Is Born alongside Beyonce, reported Deadline.
Will Smith, Russell Crowe, Sean Penn, Eddie Murphy and Robert Downey Jr had previously been linked to the musical, to be directed and co-produced by Clint.
The Grammy-winning singer is set to play a rising starlet who falls in love with an established male star (tipped to be Leonardo's character), only to find her career ascending while his goes into decline.
The film is a remake of three earlier versions - the original in 1937 starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March; before the 1954 version with Judy Garland and James Mason and the 1976 adaptation starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Beyonce has said the role is a "dream come true": "Clint Eastwood is clearly the absolute best, and I'm so honoured and humbled. I didn't even want to touch A Star Is Born unless it was with him."
She has also revealed she isn't comfortable with love scenes, following her roles in Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records and Obsessed.
"I don't like them. They're uncomfortable. It's weird because I didn't grow up acting," she said on Piers Morgan Tonight.
"I've done romantic scenes in maybe three [films]. So it's still new to me. After a few times, it kind of becomes choreography, so it gets a little easier."
