Depp 'intimidated' by Richards
Johnny Depp has revealed how being around Keith Richards was so intimidating that he couldn't even play the guitar.
The Hollywood star couldn't strum his guitar on the set of Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, because the Rolling Stones guitarist appeared as his on-screen dad.
"It took me about 11 years before I could actually touch a guitar in Keith's presence, and that's just to pick it up and move it. There are just some things you don't do," Johnny said.
The Oscar-nominated actor admitted it was "strange" to see Keith, who inspired his Pirates alter-ego Captain Jack Sparrow.
"The character's main ingredients came up from mixing Keith Richards and Pepe Le Pew. I was a little worried about what Keith was going to think," he continued.
"I didn't fear Pepe Le Pew but I did get worried about Keith, because for a good portion of the time I was spending with him, I was sponging as much as I possibly could to use for the character."
Johnny had little reason to worry: "When he found out what I had been doing, he was very nice about it. He was very sweet about it.
He added: "To bring him into the fold of the film and have a scene with him, it's just the most amazing thing. It's one of those things you know that has been seared onto your brain and will never leave."
